Association
Every man, with his actions and his omissions,
is responsible for the destiny of humanity.
Helder Camara
The Centro Internazionale Helder Camara (CHC) Onlus was born in Milan , in year 2000, within the context of the Ecclesial Community of Sant’ Angelo, gathering at the Sunday Holy Mass of 11.00 a.m., celebrated at the same church, by father Cesare Azimonti, minor franciscan friar.
CHC was also born thanks to the efforts and energy of Mr. Gianfranco Stella, a passionate visionary man, father founder and soul of this association, created as a prophetic and concrete symbol of the Jubelee in Rome, which took place on that year.
The Ecclesial Community joined around the idea of Gianfranco, i.e. to give voice to the “have not”s, to act as loud speaker for those initiatives, which, around the world, were specifically targetting on minors, children and youngsters, victims of violence or simply depriving situations and educational poverty.
Gianfranco chose, as his programme indication, the thinking and the action of dom Helder Camara, Brasilian bishop promoter of a non violent , but effective, fight aimed to overcome injustices which, specifically in certain world contexts, make life more and more non-human.
During the years the initiatives run by the association became diversified, but the mission remains the same : give voice to those who have not, undertake concrete actions to the purpose of giving people, wherever they might be, equal dignity and rights.
Finally CHC wants also to develop a shared culture on these issues, involving different worlds, but anyway willing to spread an idea of fraternity, to propose changes, starting from the building of a more just society.
