Who we are
The Centro Internazionale Helder Camara ( CHC ) is a volunteer based association , now legally indicated as ODV, Organizzazione di Volontariato ( i.e. voluntary organization), formerly indicated as ONLUS, Organizzazione non lucrativa di utilità sociale ( i.e. socially useful, non profit organization ).
It is registered at the Regional Register of ODVs, it is indipendent and lay, with the aim to keep alive the prophetic testimony and teachings of dom Helder Camara, with special attention to the values of justice and peace.
Its members are persons with different experiences and backgrounds, who share the mission and values of the association.
MISSION and VALUES
CHC is an association which believes in the principles of equality , responsability, solidarity, participation.
In accordance with the principles stated in the World Declaration of Human Rights, as well as those indicated in the Constitution of the Republic of Italy, CHC intends to :
- Promote respect for justice, rule of law, fundamental rights and freedoms, without any distinction related to ethnic origin, gender, age, language and religion.
- Favour laicality, dialog among people and cultures
- Value and strengthen local cultures and local communities competences.
